I got a new car

I just realized that I haven't told the world about my new car yet!
I am buying my grandfather's car. It is a 2006 Kia Spectra, with 4,000 miles on it.
I like it a lot. It is not gold like this picture, more of a basic tan.
I'm trying to think of a name for it, and I'm open to any suggestions.
As for other news, I am apparently very addicted to mandarin chicken salads right now. I have had two in two days.
On an equally exciting note, I'm going to the circus tonight!!!!! It's going to be 91 degrees tomorrow. Hot stuff! This weekend is Arts Fest on Front street in Harrisburg, but the forecast predicts T-storms all the way till Tuesday! :(
Anyway, Happy Memorial Day to you all...spend at least a couple of minutes remembering why we have the day off. http://www.usmemorialday.org/backgrnd.html

Well, it's over.

My grandfather died at 5:00 pm on Friday the 11th.

It was (and still is) a very rough time, but it made me realize all over again how lucky I am. I have so many people in my life who love me and care about me. It's easy to forget that at times. Whenever there is a crisis, whenever something happens, my family is there. Everyone cries together, helps each other with whatever they need, and it creates this amazing web of support. My friends have been there for me, and so has Chris. Because they've been such a source of strength for me, I am able to be strong for my sisters and my mom.

Last weekend was pretty tough for me. I went home to be with my family on Friday, and helped my sister move her college stuff back in the house. Saturday Chris and I spent all day cleaning at my house in preparation for all of my family who will undoubtedly be here for the week. Sunday was Mother's Day, and we went to visit Chris' family in Lebanon for a bit.

I seem to have regained my mono symptoms - I am endlessly fatigued, no matter how much sleep I get, and my throat hurts a lot. Plus, the pain in my lower back/leg has returned full force - I thought I was almost done with it. I am SURE that most of this is stress/emotion related, because that's how my body works. It's just draining.

So anyway. The mass and viewing are tomorrow, and the military funeral at Ft. Indiantown Gap is on Thursday. I'm obviously taking off those two days. On Friday, most of my family is going to a Vineyard in Virginia for the night. We're going to have a nice dinner there on Friday, then Saturday there is a Greek festival open to the public. Chris has agreed to go, as did Amy's boyfriend Sean, so it should be a fun way to de-stress, hang out with family, and have the boyfriends meet the family. (And drink some good wine, hopefully!!)

I think that's about all for today.

Thanks for listening.

Happy Things

I'm very happy today. I decided to tell you all why.

Things that are making me happy today:

1. Hierald made me star-shaped funfetti cupcakes, with buttercream icing! Not only do I love cake, funfetti and buttercream are my favorite combo. And cupcakes are especially awesome because they are portable cake. Who doesn't love portable dessert?

2. One of my favorite clients invited me to her wedding. I don't think I'm going to go, but it means a lot to me that she would invite me. It makes me feel all special inside :)

3. The beautiful weather outside (even though it gave me a sunburn on my left arm).

4. Going to my Chiropractor again today! Pretty soon I will have a pain-free tailbone once more!

5. Getting to spend some one-on-one time with some of my best friends this week - I hung out with Uly, Vicky, Dan, Hierald, and Teri.

6. Talking to Chris right before falling asleep last night. It was almost as if he were with me! (Which ALWAYS makes me happy!)

7. Emily calling me just to tell me she loves me.

8. Wearing jeans to work. :)

9. Thinking about the upcoming Memorial Day weekend!!

10. Helping people. I really love my job some days.

I hope you are all having equally awesome days. Enjoy the weather!!

Blah

I'm currently eating sugarfree lime jello. I wish it was a popsicle, but what can you do. I really like popsicles.

I have been having a pretty sucky week at work thus far. Monday was ok because all I did was sit through a training in Philly, and then drive home. But yesterday and today have been basically waste-of-life days for me. I'm just simply too drained to be a productive person. And I don't feel bad about this at all, actually. Usually my guilt would kick in about now, but I'm doing a good job with not really caring. Friday's a team meeting for me, so I will have to get some prep work done tomorrow, which will be a good motivator.

I get paid tomorrow. That's nice.

My grandfather is doing a bit better. Slow, steady improvements are the way to go apparently, so I'm all for it. Thanks to all of you who sent me nice messages. They were very appreciated.

I am excited that this weekend is Cinco de Mayo! I'm trying to get friends together to do something fun. We'll see how that turns out.

I'm so very excited to see Chris tomorrow. It will be the first time we've spent any real time together in the last 11 days, which is a long time. I'm glad we have a semi-relaxing weekend coming up, I don't feel like doing anything but laying in the sun and enjoying the weather.

So I guess that's about all for today. I've been rather blah this week and that seems to be apparent through my writing as well. I've been asked "are you ok?" so many times this week by family members, friends, and even clients! I guess I'm not my usual happy-go-lucky self because I'm just so emotionally drained. I hate being like this, but I guess it needs to run its course or something.
